Latest Entrant to the Forever 27 Famous Artists Club – Amy Winehouse

The history books would say that 'Rehab' was the biggest selling single for one of the world famous artists, 27-year old Amy Winehouse, but it proved to the biggest lament for the singer whose life was stuck in a downward spiral, headed towards self destruction.
Winehouse's second release 'Back to Black' which won her 5 Grammys will always be remembered as her signature work by her fans. The album was not received well, except for the one song, but it showed that Amy was an extremely talented singer and songwriter. Her work opened up the doors to the emergence of a new genre 'British Soul', which has seen rise of other famous artists like Adele and Duffy.
The unfortunate circumstances and the age at which Winehouse died makes her a member of the mystical club of famous artists called 'Forever 27 Club' which has Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison and Kurt Cobain, among a dozen other famous artists, whose musical genius was only equalled by their troubled and painful lives, lost in alcohol and drugs; all dead by 27.
All people have issues, and it takes a lot to come up with songs that are based on the issues of the artists' lives. But, the songs don't lead to an end of the issues that actually led to the songs being made. The issues actually get compounded due to the riches and fame that are a part of the lives of the now famous artists. If they don't deal with the issues maturely, it leads to the inevitable downfall.
The funeral of Amy Winehouse was performed on 26th July, 2011. RIP Amy.
